These types of rulers are called rolling rulers because they have a rolling mechanism that allows them to easily and accurately measure and draw straight lines, curves, and angles. They are also known as rolling parallel rulers or rolling straightedges. They typically hold unchecked power and are not bound by a constitution or the rule of law. However, it is important to note that not all dictators have the same level of control, and some may face limitations on their power from other influential groups or institutions within the country. Noble families became rulers through a combination of inheritance, military power, and political alliances. In many cases, noble families inherited their positions of power through a system of hereditary succession, where leadership was passed down from one generation to the next within the same family.
